THE SUE MANNING JINGLE COMPANY This jingle company is now defunct, as many British jingle companies became in the 1980s when the IBA and the
musicians union made amendments to, and relaxed
their agreement which meant that the US jingle companies could make in-roads into the British Radio market.
Sue Manning jingles produced the 1979 jingle package.

EMISON EMISON was the jingle division of EMI, they produced the 1977 jingle package through their in-house
composer Jeremy Rose. Again with the relaxation
of the rules with the IBA and the musicians union, EMISON went the same way as other British jingle houses.

I left Radio City to present the evening drivetime show on LBC, and became the Arts Editor. I then went to Moscow from 1989 to 96 working for LBC, IRN, the Evening Standard and freelanced for many other stations and papers.
I began as GMTV's Moscow Correspondent when the channel launched and since then have also been the political correspondent and covered a huge range of stories around the world.

Mike Flynn

Mike Flynn Mike started at Radio City in 1976 and did the nightowl programme until 1978, when the call of Radio Wales came which meant a daily show for 10 years. During his time at City (and right up to now) Mike had a property company and which now looks after him in his retirement. Mike’s big love is flying, both fixed wing and helicopters. Mike still remembers one of the adverts he used to play at City “Unbeatable on Merseyside....Skellys Ford World”, oh and don’t get him started on the Canadian Talent Library music!!!!!!!!

CHRIS JONES Chris was a giant of the radio industry. Working, initially, as an engineer at Radio City, he went on to become one of their most popular presenters, and is still remembered today, especially for his time on the late night 'Downtown' show. When Chris left Radio City to join rival BBC Radio Merseyside, Billy Butler went in the reverse direction joining Radio City. Billy, famously, joked on air that he had had a call from a Mr Corlett, Radio Merseyside's Programme Organiser!, wanting to swap hundreds of photos of Billy Butler for some of Chris Jones. During his time at Radio Merseyside, Chris was recruited by Radio One to present their Saturday evening show live from Manchester. The head of Radio One asked Chris how he thought Radio One could improve their audience in the North West. Chris replied "Put me on more often"! In 1980, after many years at Radio Merseyside, Roy Corlett offered Chris the chance to join the launch team for the new BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Chris went, and stayed there for 19 years. Sadly Chris died in November 2012. (AUDIO)-Photo courtesy of Kyle Evans-Real Radio-Yorkshire
